How to handle little ones who interrupt

by Babs Hadjusiewicz November 27, 2013

Two Important tips to teach kids the importance of not interrupting: 1. To model polite respect to the person who’s talking, the speaker holds a "talking stick." This helps everyone remember the importance of giving undivided attention to the speaker; 2. Model how interrupting someone’s sentence can lead to taking in all sorts of misinformation. Share with children age-appropriate examples in fun and meaningful ways, such as, “Gosh, I’m glad I listened until you were done talking; I might have gone the wrong way"; "Oh, I thought you were going to say you didn't like your new shoes."
