When trying to explain complex concepts, it doesn't hurt to get physical.

Today's tip is a poem and song to get you and your child TALKing together first thing in the morning...and all day long! Act out the words to this song...wave "bye-bye" to "yesterday" and wave "hello" to the space in front of you that might represent "tomorrow"...dramatize both a work activity and a play/fun activity. Ham it up! Even with your one-year-old, sing this song a couple days in a row, and I guarantee you'll be asked to do it again by the fourth day, if not before. Here are but a few benefits---TALKing and THINKing and SINGing together; identifying work and play activities; learning the days of the week in order; exploring complex concepts of "yesterday," "today," and "tomorrow" (difficult concepts since those words' meanings change every day!); having fun; establishing a ritual; exploring drama; and....what else does YOUR child gain from your singing this little song together every day?
